The first neighborhoods to experience a Renaissance are those with intriguing architecture. With more than its share of historic architectural gems, Austinburg is recognized as a National Register Historic District. Residences range from nineteenth century Victorian to twentieth century Eclectic, embracing elaborate shingle work with varying colors and designs. Neoclassical style is reflected in Sixth District Elementary School and the St. Benedict Church. Along with Cincinnati's Music Hall and many other public buildings, Samuel Hannaford, a well known local architect, designed St. Benedict's. This unique structure provides a focus for the neighborhood that is both social and strongly visual.
